The Palomo administration last October 1 donated a complete set of desktop computer to the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office (NEPPO) to affirm the continuing partnership between Wesleyan University – Philippines (WUP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

President Manuel Palomo and Board of Trustees Chairman Pacifico Boy Aniag went to the NEPPO headquarters in Cabanatuan City during the short recess of their meeting in the Executive Commission (ExeComm) to officially present to the PNP a brand new two-gigabyte ASUS CORE 13 unit.

The president said it was a sign of WUP’s willingness to help the PNP serve the Novo Ecijanos better.

“Ito ay isang pagtulong ng private sector upang tumaas ang capability ng PNP sa paglilingkod sa ating pamayanan,” the president told the media.

Senior Supt. Roberto Aliggayu, provincial director of the PNP, thanked WUP for the donation.

“Ikinagagalak po naming maging recipient ng WUP as a token of our partnership,” Aliggayu said.

Aside from the hardware, WUP, through the Office of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), also pledged the provision of technical assistance and computer literacy training to the police force.

College of Criminal Justice Education Dean Mario Rosete and ICT Head Dr. Gilbert Tumibay headed the arrangement of units and software. The PNP uses the Personal Information System (PIS) and the National Crime Information System (NCIS) software as their operational programs.

The donation was the first phase of WUP’s agenda to help the PNP in improving its policemen in terms of technology and analytical skills. Last year WUP has trained two batches in the areas of computer literacy and critical thinking. ###
