Top-caliber personalities from different sectors graced last semester’s flag-raising ceremonies as guest speaker at the University Gymnasium.
Cabanatuan City Mayor Jay Vergara attended the events twice as guest speaker in the June and August ceremonies.
Vergara delivered speeches declaring the importance of education in uplifting the lives of Novo Ecijanos.
Newly-installed Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office (NEPPO) Director Roberto Aliggayu spoke in the September ceremony, and in the succeeding forum addressed issues about drugs, jueteng, tricycle fares and the recent rumors about the “wakwak,” or a syndicate said to be responsible to alleged cases of disappearance and murder of some students, cases which he confirmed to be non-existent.
In October, Ray A. Gapuz, founder of the R. A. Gapuz Review Center (the official review center of the CoN) urged students and teachers to engage more in experiential learning methods as a way of cultivating quality learning and thereby producing more board passers.
Each ceremony was followed by an open forum at the HRM Function Hall, where student leaders and university personnel were given the opportunity to ask speakers anything about their speech or their field. ###
