WUP alumna Rose Marielle C. Mamaclay made a name for herself and her country after being adjudged Grand Champion Performer in the 14th World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA), which concluded at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Hollywood, California last July 25.
The 2006 BS HRM graduate known by her screen name Marielle Corpus also took two special awards, one as Overall Champion in the Pop Category and the other as Overall World Champion in the Open Category.
The 24 year-old CabanatueƱa has already proven her talent in the same event in 2008 as part of the Philippine delegation to the same events, wherein she collected several awards including gold medals in the Female Vocal Broadway, Female Vocal Contemporary and Female Vocal Pop categories within the 18-24 year-old age bracket.
She was the only Filipino who made it past to the final round of the Senior Division that year.
Among Mamaclay’s managers were Charie Vega and Asia’s Queen of Songs Ms. Pilita Corrales. ###
