In line with the expanding programs of the Office of the University Development and Alumni Relations (formerly the Office of Alumni Affairs), a new and modern “Alumni Centre” is set to open this year on a three-story building situated in a newly-acquired property along Maharlika Highway.
Under the initiative of University Development and Alumni Relations Director Prof. Antonio Jose D. Celis, the center aims to become the income-generating arm of his department.
According to Alumni Associate Mr. Nico Isaias D. Rivera, the new venture will boast of amenities aiming to bring the Wesleyan Spirit.
It will feature a hostel primarily planned to accommodate alumni visiting the university and wishing to stay overnight.
The building, which is to be equipped with function rooms and an executive lounge, will also house the offices of Development & Alumni Relations and the WU-P Alumni Association.
The OUDAR team is now conducting a feasibility study on the prospect of commercializing the hostel. Due to its location and proximity to key business centers, residential areas and major thoroughfares attracting more than 100,000 people daily, the office also intends to put up business spaces open to bidders in the banking, restaurant, coffee shop, retail and 24/7 convenience store industries.
It will also feature a “Memorabilia Corner” as well as a landscaped gallery for notable and successful alumni. The gallery will be made visible to people passing the North Gate to establish a sense of pride and motivation.
Plans of putting up a large electronic billboard facing the highway to create a techie appeal and add sophistication to the university are now on-track.###
